点评:Definately the worst castle ever visited - even some ruins are more interesting!
2 good points - impressive exterior architecture and 4 beautifully carved wooden ceilings but as pointed out by many, you are not allowed to take photos.
Otherwise, unless you appreciate being allowed to view only 5 highly ostentatious rooms plus entrance hallway, full of marble floors, fireplaces and furniture, you will be as disappointed as I was.
The Harry Potter connection, so far as I could tell, is tenuous, being limited to the grass area being used for the broomstick lesson and a couple of exterior castle shots being superimposed behind a probable film set but I'm sure it paid well then and still does now.
Had some of the authentic medieval interiors remained it might have been interesting but if they have, they are not on show. The original kitchen appears to have been butchered throughout the years and practically nothing remains, best to keep closed until it is restored, if it is even possible. The Dragons Quest is clearly for young children and the courtyard ancient crafts might have been interesting but only the 'dressing up in ancient or magical garb' kiosk was open.
As others have also pointed out, you pay for everything seperately so it could easily become a very expensive day.
Personally, I would advise spending your cash elsewhere, especially since there is a fabulous, beautiful and incredibly interesting National Trust property and garden - not too far away !!
