The museum, located in Oakdale’s historic train station, offers an engaging glimpse into the area’s cowboy culture, with fascinating exhibits on local rodeo champions, ranching tools, saddles, and memorabilia that bring the stories of the “Cowboy Capital of the World” to life.The docent’s enthusiasm and expertise truly elevated our visit, making it both educational and memorable.
The museum is conveniently located on Highway 120, making it an ideal stop for travelers journeying between Yosemite and San Francisco. Despite its modest size, the museum is packed with interesting displays and is staffed by a friendly, knowledgeable docent , Juston, who is currently studying to become a historian and archivist , was eager to share his love and knowledge of local history. There is no formal admission fee-visitors can leave a donation, which helps support the museum’s mission to preserve and promote western heritage.
