The second best sight in Figueres?

点评：Travelers likely won't come to Figueres specifically to visit this museum. But even then, they'd be wise not to miss it. It effectively provides a glimpse into the figurative culture of this region (called Empordà), and ultimately helps them connect with its strong personality.
The museum is housed in a pleasantly modern building on Figueres' prestigious "Rambla". Admission is free for those with a ticket or reservation at the nearby Dalí Museum. It extends over three floors, allowing for a pleasant visit of up to a couple of hours.
There's a historical-archaeological section, which includes valuable pieces of medieval and early modern sculpture, both in stone and wood, and paintings on permanent loan from the Prado Museum. This is followed by a section dedicated to the 19th and first half of the 20th centuries, with sculptures and paintings created for the region's bourgeois patrons, some of which are from the "modernist movement". Landscape painting, in the next section, helps us approach the Empordà landscape and the way local artists interpret it. The most recent artistic trends are finally represented in a final section.
The museum also hosts frequent temporary exhibitions, reflecting its mission, which is also to be a permanent laboratory for experimentation.
Overall, given the primacy of the Dalí Museum, I wouldn't be surprised if the Empordà Museum were considered the second best sight in Figueres.
