Woody Guthrie Center的点评
点评：Although Woody Guthrie inspired Bob Dylan, the two attractions are separate and the museum displays are unique to each artist. You MUST visit both. If you're spending the day in Tulsa, you MIGHT be able to visit both. They are located next door to one another. Don't underestimate the time you will want to spend in both.
The Guthrie Center is more focused on the Dust Bowl, Depression, and the Labor Movement-- all crucial periods of American history and Woody Guthrie was at the center of it all. All due respect to Louis Armstrong, Woody Guthrie is in many ways the most important musician/songwriter during the first half of the 20th century. Visiting this museum, you'll leave without any doubt of this fact. I'd like to see an Armstrong museum like the Guthrie Center or Dylan Center give Louis his due so we can have a real debate.
There are so many writings, drawings, musical instruments, and personal items belonging to Woody Guthrie the result is a tour de force that Guthrie is clearly one of the most important American artists of any era. He literally documented some of the most troubling periods in American history like John Steinbeck.
All I can say is whether you are an American or just a believer in democracy, this is one of the most vital museums to visit in the United States. There is good reason Guthrie inspired a generation of folk musicians. This museum is evidence Guthrie was so much more than just a musician.
