Interesting attraction, but a bit overpriced.
阿克罗帝利考古遗址的点评
点评：To start with, let's not get confused: as I can see, most of negative reviews, instead of saying that Akrotiri ruins are a bad attraction, say that it is TOO EXPENSIVE and not worth 20 Euros admission fee. This changes the perspective, and I partially agree: 20 Euros per person is a bit steep, remembering that you need also to pay for a transportation to get to the southern end of the island. And no, you will not be walking on ancient streets: instead, you walk around the site on elevated walkways and read signs.
But first, you need to remember that it is an ongoing digging operation which needs money. And second, in my opinion, Akrotiri is still worth visiting - just because in how many places on Earth can you see a real town which is 3,500-4,000 years old?
And, according to the signs, its residents did not struggle just to survive: they ENJOYED their life, which is amazing! Personally, staying in front of one of the private villas and looking at its blueprint, I was stunned that its residential design was basically what we build NOW and call it "modern style"! ))
Most likely, Akrotiri cannot be compared with another famous ash-buried town - Pompei (I haven't seen it). But, if you have never seen something like this, I am sure, after spending so much money GETTING TO Santorini, you probably CAN afford 20 Euros more.
