点评:Construction of Hasegg Castle was completed soon after 1300, when Hall was rapidly becoming the center of Tyrolean commerce and salt mining. Originally erected to protect the salt mines, the shipping industry, the bridge across the river Inn and the old Roman road, in 1477 the castle's mint was established by Sigismund, Archduke of Austria.
Today the castle houses the Mint Museum, a very good museum about the history of minting, the importance of Austrian silver minting, and the worldwide coins deriving from the Austrian silver coins.
At the end of the tour, in the museum shop, you can mint your own replica coin, by using an ancient coin press.
It is also possible to visit the Mint Tower, from the top of which you have a great view of the city of Hall in Tirol (there are around 150 steps to the top, either via a large spiral staircase, or via a narrower and steeper one).
