点评：The Lyn Valley Arts & Craft centre was quite a surprise. I’d expected to find a small collection of local, hand-made crafts but this is so much more than that. Firstly, there was a lot more here than I’d expected and secondly, the quality was just lovely.
It’s housed inside an old methodist chapel which doesn’t look very big from the outside but inside, it seems to open up into a great hall with a huge range of goods.
I found jewellery, honey, pottery, cards, soaps and candles, glassware, knitwear, woodwork, small gifts and artwork. Something for everyone, as they say.
It was all very well laid out, with plenty of space to wander through and browse.
The hand-made soaps were an easy purchase. Small and easy to pack, they kept my suitcase beautifully scented while travelling. It was hard to choose between the floral ones - violets, freesias, lavender & honey, and heather - but I also couldn’t resist the Devon clotted cream soap.
Some of the unique hand-made wooden toys and small gifts caught our eye. The gardener in me liked the sets of oak plant stakes with quirky messages (“I’m a Survivor”). We have also had a lot of fun with a two sided ‘coin’ which you flip to solve a problem. Deciding whether to go out or stay in? Flip the coin. His job or her job? Let the spin decide.
Lynton is a charming town and if you have a few hours here to explore, then its worth adding this place onto your list.
