点评:Barberville Historic Settlement is a museum of Floridian life from the 1880s to early 1900s. There are 18 buildings to explore on a self-guided tour along way marked paths. Many of the paths are levelled grass and dirt.
Barberville Central High School remains where it was built in 1919 and houses exhibits. Joseph Underhill House, circa 1879, is the oldest red brick house in the area. It is undergoing restoration so can only be seen from the outside. It is a short walk from the other buildings which have been brought from other places in Florida , restored and rebuilt here. Information boards give the history of each building. Doors are opened to the building where access is limited.
The welcome at the gate house was warm and informative. The craft demonstrations were interesting.
Easy access by road. Free parking on site. Inexpensive entrance fee.
An enjoyable and peaceful couple of hours of exploration and learning.
