点评:My two travel companions and I returned from the 4-day trip last Thursday. Our guide, Jeanne, was truly outstanding. I can't think of a way that she could have been better: helpful, knowledgeable, excellent planner, super-hard worker.
I am accustomed to somewhat higher-end travel in places like the U.K. and Europe. This trip was definitely outside my comfort zone and I was apprehensive, but it all went fine -- even having to do without a shower at the floating camp and share a single outhouse stall with 10 other people at Rose Harbour.
The dinners were incredible -- delicious restaurant-quality food. Snacks and lunches were good too.
Anyone thinking of going on this trip should be aware that it is highly weather-dependent and the itinerary is accordingly flexible. We did not get to Sgang Gwaii or Ḵ'uuna Llnagaay for that reason. However, we did visit 3 Watchmen sites, including the traditional Haida village (deserted) on Tanu Island and I felt that we had a very full experience of Haida culture notwithstanding.
I think it's important to be aware that while this is an excellently run trip, it is intense and challenging too. Travelling by Zodiac in the rain is not for the faint of heart. And the wet gear and floater jacket are awkward to get in and out of -- though absolutely necessary. Getting in and out of the Zodiac is not easy either. But so worth it!
Note that if you have mobility or balance issues, this might not be the trip for you. Otherwise, highly highly recommended.
