Spitting Cave of Portlock的点评
点评：I visited the Spitting Cave of Portlock on Oahu, and I was so glad that I read previous TripAdvisor reviews before I went. The most important tip I picked up from the reviews was to wear sturdy shoes. I wore my best pair of sneakers and I was very thankful that I did! The terrain getting down to the cliff area is extremely steep and treacherous. There are no steps, railings, etc. to assist a person trying to navigate their way down (or back up). Also, I noticed a sign posted by the locals warning people about rogue waves that can crash along the cliffs and catch them off guard. These waves could possibly knock you over and/or sweep you into the ocean. So I stayed a good distance away from the edge of the cliff. I went there at sunset and it was absolutely gorgeous! I stayed until early nightfall and witnessed the stars in the sky and the lights in the buildings on the distant shoreline. Of course, I took photos of the scene. There was a group of people gathered around a boom box about 30 feet away from me, and they were playing Country music. So I got to hear one of my favorite Jelly Roll songs, yay! It was pretty surreal. The only problem with staying there that late was my climb back up the hill in the dark. I turned on the flashlight of my phone, which was helpful for me. But overall, it was a great experience and one that I'll never forget!
P.S. I would not recommend using Google Maps to guide you to the area. It led me astray towards the very end of the driving directions. I had to figure out how to walk to the Spitting Cave of Portlock myself by using some guesswork after I parked my car.
