Lost their customer focus and no longer worth the trip.

点评：Used to be a ‘go to’ venue for books and cafe.
They tried to increase the quality of their food offer but failed due to several reasons. Probably wholesale costs and staff costs.
The cafe was good years go. The offer was basic (Fish finger batches, sausage batches and cakes etc….) But it worked as did the warm wood burners/ customer cutter in the cafe. Instead, there are 5 large sofas that must have cost a pretty penny. Even that lacks refinement as customers sit opposite each other out of earshot but nevertheless, it’s a peculiar setup. Even the sofas near the wood burner are positioned poorly.
Now it is an area with a rip-off coffee/drinks machine and pay for cakes/ drinks at the main entrance. £3.50 for a paper cup. (Not sure if it was free refills because there was nobody to welcome you).
Customers aren’t being told of the cafe changes and walk through to the counter. Only to be informed that they need to pay at the other end of the building.
The ambience is dead. Whilst the male member of the team was polite, the place has lost its Kudos. The wood burner was on but the lounge area was cold. All in all, no longer a place worth visiting unless you want a good array of books.
If you don’t mind the changes, then keep rolling up.
