Immensely Disappointing
Elephant Valley Project的点评
点评：PROS:
- Elephant viewing was superb
- Food quality during our 2-night stay was excellent
CONS:
- Severely overpriced for similar experiences
- Our accommodation (cabana) was deplorable and needed much attention
- The communication once on site was very scant and incomplete
- Did NOT receive any feeling that our presence there was of any value
- Did not have electricity the 2nd night of our stay
We have done several similar activities during our travels to 70 countries, being environmentally sensitive and concerned for wildlife. But THIS experience was severely lacking in any attention the the basic comforts of the guests paying (for us it was $600) for an overnight ethical elephant experience. We advised our friends traveling to the area behind us, to skip EVP altogether, do a 1 day experience there, or try the one-day Mondulkiri Project, instead. They really enjoyed their experience with MP, and skipped EVP.
It's a shame, because we believe in and (obviously) support what they are doing. But, the condition of our cabana and its bathroom had my wife and I looking at each other with expressions of "you have to be kidding"! We do not expect glamorous, cushy conditions in situations such as these. But this was REALLY "Come on! Make some effort to have windows and doors in working order, mosquito nets without holes, bathrooms that are functional and not repugnant, and bedding that conveys it's safe and comfortable to place your body on."
