点评：If you're visiting Manchester then why not take time out to take a guided tour one of the city's oldest buildings? I did, and it was well worth every penny of the £6.50 I paid (being of a certain age, this was the concessionary price). It's worth noting that you have to take a tour and this has to be booked in advance.
As you can imagine, there's a lot of history within the walls of this medieval building. Every inch is steeped in history. Originally built in 1421 to accommodate priests, this Gade 1 listed building is the oldest serving public library in the English speaking world and houses thousands of printed books and manuscripts. Furthermore, It's where Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels met to study. You can even sit in the alcove where the two men met sat.
The one hour long tour was informative, interesting and enjoyable.
