点评:MacRitchie Reservoir is lovely, but you need to be realistic if you want to tackle the round walk starting from the Visitor’s Centre and taking in the Treetop Walk. At 12km, it was on the outside of what I like to walk but I was keen to seen as much of the reserve as possible. What I didn’t factor in was the effect the heat, humidity and elevation would have! You need good walking shoes, decent fitness and plenty of water. The rangers’ station halfway round wasn’t open but the toilets were and the drinking fountain was working. We heard lots of animals but only saw a tortoise and several groups of macaques – they kept their distance and so did we, except for when I accidentally strayed too close to a feeding mother I hadn’t noticed and got strongly growled at! The Treetop Walk is great, but you have to really want to go on it as the loop is up up up on the way (obviously!) and then down a million steps afterwards. Easy to get to by bus – Google will tell you which one and where.
