点评:Reading is a filthy place. It smells bad, especially in the town centre. It’s genuinely disgusting. Weeds grow absolutely everywhere, as if they’ve been appointed head of urban planning.
The whole area feels run-down. Buildings have facades that look like they haven’t seen maintenance in decades, and some are so depressingly ugly that they seem frozen in the worst architectural moments of the 1970s.
If you want to use public transport for a month, you’ll pay around £90. And what do you get in return? Buses that are constantly late, dirty, littered with rubbish, and occasionally carrying the unmistakable aroma of stale vomit.
Most houses don’t even have proper gardens, and when they do, they’re often just as neglected as everything else. There’s rubbish scattered around the streets, adding to the overall charm.
The train station is probably the only decent place in Reading — mainly because it’s the way out.
