点评:I went to see Hamilton with my friend who had travelled down from Inverness on Thursday 20 November. The matinee performance was amazing and fully deserved a standing ovation.
However, as we took our seats in the stalls, we were amazed to find a woman arrived and sat behind us with a dog! Its tail was banging on the back of my seat, as if a child had been behind me. My friend has asthma and is allergic to dogs.
We spotted some empty seats two rows in front and so I asked at the interval if we could move seats. Even when we moved we were told there was yet another dog in the stalls nearby, but at least this one was on the aisle.
We did enjoy the show, but it’s fair to see our enjoyment was marred by the issue of the dog, then having to move seats. Had there not been those empty seats we might have had to stay where we were. My friend was already beginning to wheeze.
I checked the ATG website for its policy where they stated that assistance dogs should be in ‘designated areas’. I have given them my feedback and made a complaint but have not as yet received a reply.
I can’t believe that a row in the stalls could be described as a designated area. Everyone to whom I have told this story is both amazed and appalled. I have no way of knowing if the woman with the dog actually told the theatre she was bringing one when she bought her ticket.
Surely the comfort of other patrons has to be a consideration?
