点评:A+ for Patrick for our six day hike on the Drakensberg Mini-traverse in April 2025. What a beautiful hike, and Patrick did all he could to make our trip an excellent adventure. Patrick is exactly the type of guide you’d be happy to spend a week with - experienced, well organized, thoughtful, concerned with your safety and experience, funny, easy going, energetic, and extraordinarily hard working (did he ever take a break??). When the weather looked like it was going to take a turn for the worse (forecast of snow), Patrick changed plans and steered us to a cave for the night. He then accommodated our request that we set up the tents in the cave… despite telling us it would not be necessary. The next day, there was no snow thankfully, but it was foggy and he let a group of unguided hikers tag along so they didn’t get lost in the fog. Nice guy. When the rivers were high and crossing looked dicey, he stood in knee-deep water to give us a hand across. He spotted us in steep declines. Did I mention he is a member of Mountain Rescue, the local search and rescue organization? We felt totally safe, comfortable, and well taken care of in his capable hands. The only thing I’d change would be to bring waterproof boots and more than 3 pairs of socks for six days. And if you don’t hike with poles already, I’d really suggest them. I will not hesitate to recommend the mini traverse, and Patrick, to my friends and to you.
