Stunning little church dedicated to assisting the poor

点评：The San Martino del Vescovo also goes by the name of Oratorio dei Buonomini di San Martini - the good men, a charitable organization still working to this day. The good men are 12 men meeting once a week, and inside the church you will find the hole through which bread was distributed during the plague outbreaks i.e. in 1522.
The wall is decorated with frescos by the Ghirlandaio workshop showing the seven works of mercy.
It is so very tiny and intimate; a very serene atmosphere - and really worth the visit.
The church was also the parish church of the Alighieri family whose house is close by, and supposedly Dante himself got married here.
Opening hours are in the mornings from 10-12 and afternoons from 15-17. There is a maximum of 10 people allowed inside at a single time - that is how small it is. But also few visitors, so you will not have to wait for long.
