点评:If you want a museum about Middlesbrough, for Middlesbrough and by Middlesbrough then this is the museum for you!
We turned up on a cold, miserable January day and spent several hours here - leaving happier than when we'd turned up which is testament to this gem of a place.
The information about the history of the town, the industry, migration and the High Street was fascinating.
As too was the collection of Linthorpe Pottery and the Christopher Dresser design galleries. I really didn't think that I'd enjoy these galleries. What a misconception!!! They were FASCINATING and probably my favourite part of the museum. The curation here is exceptional.
This museum is interesting and FREE.
I particularly loved the cardboard designs and incredibly creative artwork in the Borough Re imagined display.
There's a 1930s/40s themed TEAROOM on the ground floor which is beautifully set up and serves delicious food. You know you're in a good teashop when your pot of tea arrives in its own hand knitted cosy!
If you are into stuffed birds and eggs, then the Nelson Gallery will appeal to you as it houses a large Edwardian collection of birds.
If you are fascinated by Space, then you must visit the Earth and Space exhibition. Full of interesting facts, it is clearly set out and has been well curated.
Thank you Middlesbrough for a superb venue and a wonderful delve into Middlesbrough's past.
