Captive breeding cages and more extensive nature walks if you wish
Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre的点评
点评:Situated about 20 minutes north of Masterton (where we spent last night) this mostly birdlife captive breeding centre was our first stop for the day. We had missed the Zealandia park in Wellington so thought we should stop here. This park is a mixture of captive birdcages and open woodland in the Bruce National Park though even seeing birds in the captive areas was difficult. We visited early morning, which might not have been the most active time, but we did see a number of birds as well as the kiwis in their darkened habitat. The eels feeding area was active. The shorter walks were pretty and there is a longer native forest trail we didn't visit. Good maps and informational signs. The gift shop had some nice products for purchase. Easy to get to.
