A via ferrata experience is only as good as the guide!

点评：We booked a family via ferrata experience to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday. We had two guides. Tobias, our assistant guide, was patient, encouraging, and made everyone feel safe and confident. He was an excellent guide and a highlight of our experience.
Unfortunately, our experience was very different with our lead guide, Jean Charles. His style was rushed and focused more on completing the route than enjoying the experience. His communication style felt pushy and focused on speed rather than ensuring everyone felt comfortable and confident. He frequently raised his voice and yelled instructions at my children, which made the experience stressful rather than encouraging.
At one point, one of my daughters became so flustered trying to keep up that she incorrectly clipped into the via ferrata. Thankfully, it was caught before anything happened, but it was a concerning safety moment.
I also injured my thumb during the course and felt dismissed afterward. I understand accidents happen, but I was disappointed that my comfort and well-being did not seem to be taken into consideration.
The route, scenery, and organization have the makings of a wonderful experience, but our day fell short of what we hoped for because of the guiding style of our lead guide. After reaching out to the company, they apologized for our experience and expressed appreciation for the detailed feedback.
My advice to future guests is to discuss expectations for pace, communication style, and experience level before booking. The guide’s approach can make a significant difference, especially for families and less experienced participants.
