Overcrowded, unremarkable beach and constant approaching by vendors

点评：Wife and I did a day trip in April 2026 to the Mahahual beach, not really expecting much but wanted to check it out. We took a taxi from cruise port to beach (10 minutes at most) which dropped us at Krazy Lobster, not because we asked but that is where they chose to drop us. When we arrived early morning it wasn’t that crowded but by 12 noon the entire strip was packed. As soon as we got onto the boardwalk, it was a constant stream of vendors approaching us to sell stuff like massages, tours, jewelry, clothes, beach clubs…. And the same when we were on the beach. The beach itself is not remarkable at all, narrow, very little beach with roped areas in the ocean indicating the borders of each beach club. The water wasn’t that clean and consistently shallow, at most up to our waist. The highlights of the day were my wife getting a massage for $20 for an hour which she loved and leaving the touristy area and walking for couple of miles - no vendors! But the beach beyond the tourist area was packed with Sargassum. In tourist area beach clubs do a good job of removing the sargassum. The lowlight or worst place we walked through was Krazy Lobster on the main strip which was wall to wall people, nearly elbow to elbow, packed in like sardines with a small beach and hardly any sand to sit on. Why people go there is beyond me… we ran away! We will not return to Mahahual but glad we got a chance to check it out.
翻译：我和妻子在2026年4月去了一趟马哈瓦尔海滩，其实没抱太大期望，只是想去看看。我们从邮轮码头打车到海滩（最多10分钟），司机把我们送到了Krazy Lobster餐厅，不是我们要求的，而是他们主动安排的。我们清晨到达时人不多，但到了中午12点，整条街都挤满了人。我们一踏上木板路，就不断有小贩过来兜售按摩、旅游、珠宝、服装、海滩俱乐部等等。到了沙滩上也是如此。海滩本身没什么特别之处，狭窄而面积很小，海里用绳子围起来标示着各个海滩俱乐部的边界。海水不太干净，而且一直很浅，最多也就到我们腰部。当天最值得一提的是妻子花20美元做了一个小时的按摩，她很满意；还有就是离开游客区，走了几英里——一路上都没有小贩！但旅游区以外的海滩上到处都是马尾藻。旅游区的海滩俱乐部清理马尾藻的工作做得很好。我们路过的最糟糕的地方是主街上的“疯狂龙虾”餐厅，那里人山人海，几乎肩并肩挤在一起，像沙丁鱼罐头一样，而海滩却很小，几乎没有沙子可以坐。我实在不明白为什么有人会去那里……我们赶紧逃走了！我们不会再去马哈瓦尔了，但很高兴有机会去那里看看。
