点评:This was a side trip pulled out of the guides bag. We didn’t ask to go but was offered so agreed as we like to see as much as we can.
The museum had lots of art displayed to buy.
We were given a demonstration on how papyrus was made and the history behind it. The ‘expert’ was fun and engaging but clearly out to make a sale. When he showed us all the various artworks he then asked us what one we wanted. I did not want one. My partner did. He was told the one he liked was $100!! He said good price for $60.. I felt it was a huuuuge rip off and walked away but my partner did not. However he got 2 personalised prints and a blank sheet for me for £50. I was not happy when I found the shop near our hotel offered the exact same one, also personalised, for £30… so I would recommend really bartering if you want something.
To be fair it was our first day and we were naive. As the trip went on we got savvy and got much better at it.
I preferred to give my money to street vendors and family run shops instead as this is where it is most needed.
Still go for the experience but be forewarned
