点评：A deeply unpleasant welcome to what should have been a peaceful place.
I rode to Sherabling Monastery alone from Bir and was genuinely looking forward to visiting it. Just after entering, I met a group of children who happily asked me to take their photograph, and I did.
A security person then came over, took my camera from me and told me it was being confiscated because photography was not allowed. He went on to tell me that he was not sitting there to do “bhaichara” and that I could go to Palampur court to get my camera back.
If photography is prohibited, I have absolutely no problem respecting that rule. Simply tell a visitor, politely, that photography is not permitted and ask them to put the camera away. I would have done so immediately.
What I object to is the unnecessarily aggressive and intimidating manner in which this was handled. I had to request and plead with him to return my own camera.
I eventually got it back, but by then the experience had been completely ruined. I had no desire whatsoever to enter the monastery and simply left.
Places like this should be able to enforce their rules without treating visitors as though they are criminals, particularly when someone has made an innocent mistake and immediately cooperates.
I hope the monastery management looks into how visitors are being treated at the entrance. One person's behaviour can completely change someone's experience of an otherwise beautiful and important place.

像这样的地方理应能够执行规则，而不该把访客当成罪犯对待，尤其是当有人只是犯了无心的错误且立刻配合处理的情况下。
希望修道院管理层能审视一下访客在入口处所受到的对待。一个人的行为可以彻底改变他人对一个原本美丽且重要之地的体验。
我原期望能好好体验谢拉布林修道院。可惜，离开时我记住的只有入口处那种敌意。
