Imire: Rhino & Wildlife Conservation的点评
点评：My time volunteering at Imire Rhino & Wildlife Conservancy was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will stay with me forever. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed not just as visitors, but as part of something deeply meaningful. Every day brought a new adventure, a new lesson, and a new appreciation for the incredible work being done to protect wildlife and support the local community.
Having the opportunity to feed the rhinos and elephants was something I will never forget. Being so close to these magnificent animals was both humbling and emotional. One of my favorite memories was being “chased” by 3-month-old white rhino Rindy and her protective mother Kate — equal parts terrifying and unforgettable! The walks with Mac and Mandy were another highlight, filled with knowledge, laughter, and a genuine passion for conservation that was impossible not to admire.
What made Imire so special was that it was so much more than wildlife. We spent time repairing roads, building a rock bridge, cutting invasive vegetation, and contributing in ways that made us feel connected to the land itself. Visiting the local school and sewing sanitary pads alongside the mothers in the community was incredibly moving and gave me such admiration for the strength, kindness, and resilience of the people there.
Learning bush survival skills, hearing stories from local villagers, and experiencing their customs, dancing, and singing created memories that words hardly do justice. There was such authenticity, warmth, and heart in every interaction.
Imire is not just a conservancy — it is a place filled with purpose, compassion, community, and unforgettable people and animals. I left with a full heart, a new perspective, and memories I will treasure for the rest of my life. Thank you to everyone at Imire for an experience that changed me in the best possible way.
