点评:To be fair, I think the last reviews from the two ladies are a little unfair.
My family and I were in the same group, and yes, there was a lack of communication regarding the delay due to the horrific weather conditions Catalonia had been experiencing over the past week. Yes, the tour company could also improve the location where they collect guests and take them to the wine experience.
But the funny thing is that the two ladies, especially the lady from New Zealand (who lives in China), very quickly forgot about the AMAZING welcome we received from the winery guide, Antonio.
Within seconds, Antonio made us feel so welcome. He was caring, empathetic to the situation, warm, and extremely professional. His words as we arrived made us feel SO much better despite the not-so-nice start to the day.
He told us from the very beginning: “I am going to spoil you and make sure you have a beautiful experience.”
And he certainly did!
Antonio had organised a welcome rosé Cava for us. We sat in a gorgeous lounge area where he lit the fireplace, which instantly made us feel warm and comfortable. And by the way, this is NOT part of the regular visit.
The big boss, a very glamorous lady called Mireia, also came to say hello and chatted with us about the experience we were about to have. It was such a lovely touch.
At the Cava winery, we visited the underground cellars — spectacular, just amazing!
Antonio then gave us FOUR MORE Cavas to taste, including some of their best products, paired with lovely local food. Remember, this is a Cava and wine tasting, NOT a meal or brunch.
After five Cavas — again, NOT part of the regular service — it was clear that Antonio really was spoiling us, and we were absolutely loving it!
Then we took a short drive to the amazing wine estate called Can Bas, which was by far one of the most beautiful places we visited.
Antonio explained that, because of all the rain, even though it had stopped by then, it was not safe for us to do the 4x4 drive around the estate. There was a lot of mud, and the river that runs through the estate had also overflowed.
But Antonio made a massive effort to ensure that we still enjoyed Can Bas.
We walked through the vineyards and visited an old chapel dating back to the 10th century. Antonio then told us to wait inside while he went into one of the fields and came back with some Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for us to taste. (Sorry, Antonio 😂)
After that, we went into a gorgeous tasting room where we tasted four wines — again, NOT part of a regular visit.
Most visits include four Cavas and three wines. We had five Cavas and four wines in total, and Antonio was incredibly generous with the pours.
Antonio was amazing. We even played a team game among the 16 of us — a fun trivia game where the winners were supposed to get a little more wine. But, to be fair, Antonio ended up giving us all the same!
Antonio was our angel and the rock star of the day. His genuine kindness, warmth and professionalism completely saved the day.
By the end of the experience, we had completely forgotten about the bad weather and the lack of communication from the tour operator — which, by the way, had absolutely nothing to do with the winery.
We will definitely return.
A huge thank you to Antonio, Mireia and the entire team for looking after us so incredibly well. Your warmth, generosity and professionalism turned what could have been a difficult day into a truly memorable experience.
