Forgot How Good This Place is
South Street Arts Centre的点评
点评：I hadn’t been here in years, but heard from a friend that there was a production on for kids over half term. Booking was easy via the website. The nearest parking is at Queens Road car park, which is about 2 minutes walk via East Street.
It’s a welcoming little venue and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. There’s a very small selection of refreshments available in the bar- note, no sweets, crisps or popcorn, only packets of nuts. This is a good thing if you wanted to wriggle out of buying unhealthy snacks for kids but might mean you choose to bring your own. Plenty of drinks to choose from. The coffee is amazing, apparently they use Anonymous Coffee (a local choice). So are the craft beers and hot chocolate. Toilets weren’t the nicest, but were clean, so I’ll forgive that.
The theatre itself is compact, with a good view from all seats. You feel so close to the action and there’s something special and very personal about the whole experience. It’s cosy in the best way. We saw a puppet show by Theo Woods of Widdershins with a glorious array of home made props. It kept the rapt attention of a young audience and had quite a dose of magic.
I need to go to more performances here, I’ll be keeping an eye on the website! It’s unique and authentic and well worth supporting.
