点评:Visiting this facility was a heartbreaking experience.
The elephants here are in a state of severe, undeniable psychological distress.
They stand in cramped areas, tethered by heavy tight chains, constantly nodding their heads and swaying back and forth—a well-documented stereotypic behavior triggered by severe boredom, confinement, and chronic stress.
They are not "dancing"; they are suffering. Furthermore, they appear severely dehydrated, waiting in frustration for water that they cannot access naturally.
The Nepalese government's current management is a failure of basic animal welfare.
Funding must steer away from simply sustaining administrative staff and mahout salaries, and immediately pivot toward infrastructure.
These elephants desperately need massive, chain-free, free-range enclosures with continuous, unrestricted access to deep water sources.
Keeping these intelligent, majestic animals in these archaic conditions is a stain on Nepal’s tourism and conservation reputation.
Do not visit, and do not look away from this cruelty. Big change is needed immediately! With the amount of funding being allocated to the national parks annually, and the 7million USD annual revenue this “conservation” centre should be doing far more for these poor creatures.
The Supreme Court of Nepal made a historic ruling on July 16th 2026 ordering the government to completely phase out elephant-riding tourism and transition captive populations to chain-free, natural enclosures.
This facility is actively violating the spirit of that mandate by keeping these magnificent intelligent beautiful animals dehydrated and severely stressed in chains.
Push for change! Do better Nepalese Government! @DNPWC_Nepal

尼泊尔政府,请做得更好!@DNPWC_Nepal
