Very disappointed.
Jesters Dinner Theatre的点评
点评：I'm ultra sensitive about writing a poor review when it comes to community theatre; my kids starred in musicals from elementary school thru high school. We are well aware that they are not professional productions; we are adept in throttling our expectations given the level of production.
Although Jesters isn't a professional theatre it is a "paid" dinner theatre and there is a reasonable expectation that goes with that. We have attended dinner theaters across America for over 30 years and I have never been disappointed by any production we've attended; including many local ones like Boulder Dinner Theatre. I may not love a particular story but I am always wowed by the talent and that is taking into consideration there are always mistakes, like an instance of someone forgetting their line etc.
We are a family of four (three of which have performed in multiple musicals) and left at intermission; that was after a vote,and serious consideration of respect for the establishment and the actors; we were in the front row. When the lead is off tune for 50% of her songs, several actors forget their lines, ensembles are clearly switching parts to cover someone who is not on their prescribed part. It's obvious the level of rehearsal didn't meet the expectation of a paid performance. It was obvious that some actors had some talent but the combined performance detracted from the ability of any one solo or actor.
Unless you are going to support someone you know in the cast I would steer away from this venue. We only attended Nunsense but our feeling was the venue and the culture of its professionalism wouldn't fare any better with another production.
