点评:We visited on the third Friday of September 2025, and the gardens were still featuring some magnificent blooms.
We began with a cream tea in the National Trust Cafe, where we could sit outside at a table and be entertained by the peeling of church bells from the nearby church. Apparently the bell ringer was practicing for a wedding, and I must say, it was quite surreal.
Upon entering the house, we were greeted by a guide who was eager to tell us the history of the house. Then we set about at our own pace, but there were guides along the way whom we could consult for information.
When the house was donated, it was agreed that the possessions would remain inside, so much of the interior is decorated with items that were sacred to the Pennyman family who had last lived in the house.
We are Royal Oak members , who partner with the National Trust so there was no charge for us to enter. We found this place well worth seeking out.
