Stunning winter hiking in the Atlas Mountains and a flexible, thoughtful itinerary

点评：We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the Atlas Mountains, led by our guide, Lahcen.
Our original plan was to complete Trek H, a three-day, two-night hut-to-hut hike. However, due to an unseasonably snowy December, this wasn’t possible as planned. Ahmed from Atlas Tours was excellent at communicating with us well in advance via WhatsApp, letting us know that the Toubkal pass was closed and giving us plenty of time to consider the alternative he proposed.
We ended up staying for two nights in the same guesthouse and doing three different day hikes instead. This worked really well, and we still felt we had a varied and rewarding experience in the mountains.
From the moment we were collected by taxi in Marrakesh to when we were dropped back, we felt extremely well looked after. Everything was organised smoothly and we felt in safe hands throughout.
The food was delicious - hearty tagines and couscous dishes, generous breakfasts and plenty of Moroccan tea stops along the way.
While I’d perhaps recommend this tour in a slightly more temperate month, the snow-capped landscapes were absolutely stunning and made the experience feel very special. Note that there was no central heating in the guest house but we were provided with ample blankets and a portable gas heater followed us everywhere we were in the house. We were also directed towards the local hammam, which was a definite experience, but warmed us up nicely.
Lahcen ensured we never felt rushed and thoughtfully tailored the walks to suit our pace, needs, and preferences. We also had a great laugh along the way!
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone looking for a well-organised, flexible and genuinely memorable hiking experience in the Atlas Mountains.
