Our day trip to Famagusta from Cyprus was a lovely surprise! The border crossing was smooth and friendly. The tourist information staff welcomed us with complimentary water and coffee, provided a free tourist brochure, and explained the free bus service to and from town, which we used.
We explored Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque, Othello Castle and the impressive old city walls, followed by a walk through the local market, where the Turkish lira is used. We ended the day swimming in the sea and enjoying cocktails by the beach.
My highlights: friendly welcome, free tourist information, convenient transport, fascinating history and seaside relaxation.
Tip for visitors: Take advantage of the free bus service and allow time for both sightseeing and the beach. Famagusta offers a wonderful mix of culture and relaxation in one day. Highly recommended!
