点评:We've been to a few dozen classical recitals and orchestra performances in this 2,000-seat hall and regard it as maybe the best concert space in the Washington, D.C. area. With the coming dismantlement of the Kennedy Center, it's sure to be an even more important venue, hosting big-name touring acts as well as serving as one of the home bases of the Baltimore Symphony. The stage and acoustic reflectors can be adjusted for the event, and the natural sound fills the space quite nicely whether it's a solo cello recital by Yo Yo Ma or a 120-piece orchestra playing Mahler or Berlioz. The center is also easily accessible via the Metro red line. The biggest issue is traffic and parking, which is in the subway garage next door and prone to lengthy backups and jammed turn lanes off Rockville Pike. The in-house dining is also limited to a cafeteria self-serve line just off the lobby with pretty ordinary options.
I can't comment on the quality of amplified music performances here but would suspect it's quite adequate.
