点评：I was there for the third ODI Sri Lanka v England, in one of the air conditioned glass boxes, to the left of the grandstand. It was the top level hospitality, advertised as comfortable seats, snack lunch, full dinner and unlimited drinks. It was also very expensive, at least for international visitors.
Expectations were probably higher than realistic, each box had around 16 seats, but from the second row backwards were not tiered, so the view was not always clear, the seats were individual, and cushioned, and there was a fridge at the back with beer, wine and soft drinks, replenished regularly. The food came regularly, packed in individual cardboard boxes, although it was very tasty.
The boxes were air conditioned, although it wasn’t particularly hot outside, so not essential, the downside was with the door closed there was a distinct lack of atmosphere.
Once we moved our chairs on to the outside balcony, though, everything came together. The atmosphere was amazing, the interaction between the rival supporters extremely enjoyable, and the cricket was worth the entry fee.
England won, but for the overall experience this was secondary, to watch a match in a foreign country was worth the entry fee, and it’s something I will always remeber.
