点评:Boerglum Abbey is located on a hilltop near the town of Vraa in the North Jutland. Good and free parking is available next to the Abbey. Hours vary so check before going to avoid disappointments.
The history of the site is quite fascinating and although the present buildings are much younger the Abbey is believed to date back to around 1100.
Exhibitions include the Old Cathedral, which is still a working parish church. The Cathedral is very beautiful and includes a memorial plaque for Capt. Christian Michael “Mik” Rottbøll, who served as the head of SOE in Denmark during WWII. It should be noted that the Old Cathedral will be closed for visitors during a restoration which will commence in 2024.
Another highlight here is a replica of the Bayeux Tapestry made by a group of local embroiderers. It took more than fourteen years to complete the immense work and the result is really impressive.
The history of the place itself is quite interesting and there is much to see and do at the Abbey. A nice café and a shop should also be mentioned and we really enjoyed our visit here.
