Hotham Valley Tourist Railway的点评
点评：The trip got off to a bad start as the morning excursion returned approx 1 hour late due to problems with the diesel loco.
We set off about 40 minutes late on the 2.o'clock departure and eventually made it to Isandra where the train was readied for the return working and that is where things took a turn for the worse.
We were informed there would be a 3 hour delay because the diesel loco had failed and since the steam loco could not get back up the hill unaided a relief engine would have to come from Dwellingup.
Eventually ,just before sunset we set off and struggled onwards and upwards until the steam locomotive ejected half it's fire up the chimney.
This meant we were stranded again until sufficient steam had been produced again for the train to proceed once more albeit very slowly as by now the rails were wet and the wheels of the diesel were slipping.
Finally with some very disgruntled passengers we arrived back at Dwellinup just after 8.30pm-roughly 4 hours late.
Besides disgruntled passengers the manager of the community hotel was none too pleased either as he would have expected to do a good trade after the train would normally arrive.
I would guess the railway company will learn a lesson from this and put a more robust and appropriate response in place should such a situation arise
