So worth the wait!! Exquisite!

点评：This house is exquisite! It is run completely by volunteers, there is no paid staff. I was shocked to learn that a house this size and age is so well kept by nothing but folks willing to donate their time. That explains the limited hours, too. The day we went there was only one volunteer for the tour so once we were let in for the 2pm tour the volunteer had to lock the door to ensure people couldn’t just show up and roam around. The house is extremely quiet so once you’re upstairs you can’t hear a peep from the downstairs. We tried for a tour a couple weekends ago and wondered why the place was locked at 1:30 even though there were cars there. I’m so thankful we didn’t give up. It was so worth the wait.
Just so others know, they are open from 1-4 on Sat & Sun but the tours start at the top of every hour. If you show up between tours they do have a marvelous front porch to wait on. We’ll be back for Christmas, I can’t wait!!!

翻译：这栋房子真是太精致了！它完全由志愿者运营，没有雇佣任何工作人员。得知这样一栋规模和年代的房子竟然能保养得如此完好，全靠志愿者们无偿奉献时间，我感到非常惊讶。这也解释了为什么开放时间有限。我们去的那天，只有一位志愿者负责导览，所以下午两点的导览结束后，这位志愿者不得不把门锁上，以防止有人随意进入。房子里非常安静，一旦上了楼，就听不到楼下的任何动静。几个周末前，我们也想去参观，当时看到下午一点半房子就锁上了，明明那里停着车，我们却很纳闷。幸好我们没有放弃，等待是值得的。
另外提醒大家，周六和周日下午1点到4点开放，但导览是每小时整点开始的。如果你在导览间隙到达，他们还有一个很棒的前廊可以等候。我们圣诞节会回来的，我等不及了！！！
