点评：Goa Batu Cermin (Mirror Stone Cave) is a good alternative attraction in Labuan Bajo when you want a break from the ocean. We visited on our first day to kick things off before our multi-day sea excursions began the following morning.
The site features a fascinating network of caves that were actually submerged underwater thousands of years ago, which explains the unique marine fossil traces and coral walls embedded in the rock. The attraction is quite well developed for visitors: our group was assigned two local guides (one leading the front and another watching the rear) and provided with essential safety gear, including hard hats, knee pads, and flashlights. The cave exploration itself is engaging without being overly grueling, even our younger kids handled it pretty well, though certain sections require deep bending and ducking, which might be tough if you have knee or back issues. Additionally, some corridors are tight and pitch black, so it’s worth noting if you suffer from claustrophobia. You might encounter some critters as well like bats, giant spiders, etc so that might be a plus or a con depending on who you ask.
Overall, it’s a very worthwhile and educational experience. Our guides were knowledgeable, giving us a deeper dive into the geological history and archaeology of the Flores region.
Pro Tip: You can easily complete the entire visit in about two hours or so. Because it is located just a short drive from the Labuan Bajo town center, it makes for a convenient stop if you have spare time between boat trips. If you enjoy geological formations and cave exploration, it's a great add on; otherwise, if you're purely here for the marine life and beaches, you can safely skip it.
