点评:We visited this historic Tudor hall built in 1540. Although we had driven past Ingatestone a number of times we had never visited as it has limited public opening, mainly through the summer.
It was a short walk from the free car park. It was impressive and secluded as we walked to the entrance.
There was a lot to see around the hall including paintings, antique furnishings and personal belongings from different generations of the family who have lived there since it was built.
The guides were very impressive with their knowledge and enthusiasm.
We had our lunch in the Summer Parlour which is a pleasant tea room that sells delicious homemade quiche, other light lunches, scones and a wide selection of cakes.
I highly recommend a visit to this historic location where Queen Elizabeth 1 had stayed in the 16th century.
