点评:I will exhaust the adjectives and superlatives in describing our tour and tasting at De'Ricci. Start with the history. The wine cellars began in the time of the Etruscans. 800 years BC. The De'Ricci family expanded the cellars 1200 years ago. The steps down to the caves (or cellars) were constructed to accommodate horses bringing the harvest and barrels down to this space.
Our tour guide made the experience so interesting and with a slice of humor. And after the tour, we were rewarded with the wine. Absolutely world class. Forget every preconceived notion you have about Italian wines. These wines were spectacular.
We were fortunate to be greeted by the winemaker Nicolo. Wonderful man who absolutely enjoys what he does and is so steeped in the history and traditions of De'Ricci. He was so generous with his time to talk with us. We bought several bottles to enjoy during out three weeks in Italy, and my biggest regret is we did not buy a case to have shipped home. The wine was sublime. And each afternoon when we cracked a bottle, I remarked that it was better than I remembered.
So, with huge enthusiasm, I highly recommend a tour and tasting at De'Ricci. AND BRING SEVERAL BOTTLES BACK!
