点评:This is a fairly small but well curated museum in a a good space that covers an important but not that well known perspective on WW2 and the lead up to it in the local area, an area that initially fell into the Free Zone under the accord between the Vichy regime and the Third Reich.
The staff are friendly and helpful but some things would improve the experience:
1: Making the film available to all. We had read a review saying the film was great for historical context and that it was moving. We were told on the day that it was only for children, they then broadened that out to it being for students but the material point was it wasn’t available to us. That seems a shame as it would really bring the events to life and provide a context and foundation for the rest of the museum visit. It also seems odd as they have clearly spent a lot of money on the building, the curation and making the film and providing an auditorium so you’d think they would want everyone to benefit from it.
2: Most of the main wall boards are French Language some have French, English and Spanish, however the information is available on handheld boards that replicate it in Spanish and in English. Unfortunately some of these are missing so they need to check them regularly and replace them.
It is still well worth visiting if you have any interest in 20th century history and the Second World War in particular. The personal accounts are moving and sometimes very inspiring. There were some very brave people who are justly memorialised.
