Standing-room-only presentation in a fabulous local museum
Elgin History Museum的点评
点评：I hadn't been to the Elgin History Museum in a number of years, and what an eye-opener. The museum had always told stories very well, but I've never seen the museum look better.
Today we attended a lecture and PowerPoint of Underground Railroad sites in Illinois by Eric Krupa, St Charles History Museum researcher, curator and exhibitions manager. It was outstanding! It was informative on a timely topic, beautifully presented to the standing-room-only crowd on a Sunday afternoon.
Afterward my 25-year-old nephew and I went through each of the galleries. Both of us know quite a bit about Elgin, but there's so much more to learn. The artifacts were in pristine condition and the narratives were expertly written to pique the interest of people of all ages, and all levels of knowledge, in my opinion.
It was clear that the staff understand their audience and what would hook them.
Kudos to Eric Krupa on today's presentation and to Elgin History Museum Director Liz Marston and her talented staff for their masterful showcasing of Elgin history. It was wonderful.
We'll be back.
