Great Family Hike, Ranked 6th in Missouri
Pickle Springs Natural Area的点评
点评：My wife and I recently visited the Midwest to see a couple of state highpoints and hike some of the top trails in Illinois and Missouri. This was our last hike of the day after three other hikes, Mina Sauk Falls being the most recent, start this hike around 6:45. At this time of day, we had the park to ourselves as I only saw one other couple on the trail. I will also say Pickle Springs, which is less than 10 minutes from Farmington, MO, is totally free to visit.
Due to the late arrival and after several miles that day, my wife chose not to join so I did the 1.9-mile loop with 314 feet of elevation by myself in nearly 40 minutes. It was a very enjoyable trail to goes up and down around 3 sets of ridges. While it has some water features and one overlook, the highlight is the rocks. At the time of day, I did get to see some wildlife, rabbits on the trail. For me, I saw this as a great family hike where you can allow you children to enjoy the rocks and the multiple features of the trail. While I greatly enjoyed it and could easily see why it was ranked the #6 trail in Missouri by AllTrails, I could have seen this as a great place to visit with our children especially when they were under 12.
