点评：A short 2+ hours drive from NYC, the Kaaterskill Falls is a great day trip destination for hiking enthusiasts. The Viewing Platform at the Laurel House trail is just a short walk from the parking lot, but offers a great top view of the two tier Falls. But to truly feel the magnificent cascade, one needs to hike down to the Lower Falls trail. You can get up close and personal to the Falls as the curtain of water spray down over you on the bank at the lower fall. Just watch your steps as the trail is very wet and slippery. The hike is so worth it. The next must visit point of interest is the Inspiration Point. About a mile hike of medium level of difficulty away. The payoff view at the top will blow you away.
A friendly public service announcement, if you have to pass by Tannersville on the way to the Falls via route 23A, slow down and keep your eyes peeled near the center of the town for officer Sneaky Pete and his cruiser (not his real name but very well should be), as the speed limit suddenly dropped from 45 to 20 mph and many unsuspected out of town victims will be greeted by his flashing welcome lights.
