点评：We've been sending our 14-year-old son to Tony Silvagni's week-long surf camp for the past few summers and it's become a summer tradition. The hardest part for him is waiting until the next time he gets back in the water.
As a parent, the low instructor-to-student ratio is a game changer. The kids get so much individual attention, and you can really see the difference by the end of the week. Instructors meet them where they are and help them improve.
Scott does a fantastic job running the camp. He never feels like someone who's just overseeing the program from the beach. He's out in the water with the kids, knows them by name and is constantly encouraging them throughout the week. You can tell he's invested in every camper, not just the camp itself. That level of involvement says a lot about the culture they've created.
I also have to give a shoutout to Gus. My son hit a point this year where he was getting in his own head, and Gus recognized it right away. He spent time encouraging him, gave him the confidence to push through it and by the end of the week was doing things he hadn't been willing to try before. It wasn't just about surfing. It was about having someone who believed in him.
Surf camp is a total confidence builder. We're really fortunate to have Tony behind a program like this in Carolina Beach. If you're considering it for your kids, I'd recommend it without hesitation.
