点评：Visited the 40s event at Kirkby Stephen East Station while staying near Kendal on holiday.
We parked at the FREE park and ride area and was driven to the event on an old 1946 Leyland Bus which was brilliant.
A tremendous amount of effort and work had gone into the event. We were warmly greeted and told what was happening today.
We booked train tickets and this allowed you to travel as many times on the steam train as you desired and it was great fun on the little ride.
There were military vehicles and people all dressed up and happy to share information with us and even allowed us to sit in an army recovery ambulance and take our photograph.
There was also a lady singing 40s songs and she was very good and a pleasure to listen to.
Inside the platform there were other people dressed up and displaying their 40s collections. It was fabulous fun looking and chatting to so many military enthusiasts.
We enjoyed a lovely cup of coffee and a blueberry muffin in the buffet car which was excellent value.
We had a fantastic time in the 3 hours we were there as everyone was so polite. Friendly and happy to share their knowledge and stories.
