点评:We did the Heuberg–Oberbärgli Circular Trail at Oeschinensee completely on a whim, with zero preparation. We had not planned on doing an almost seven-mile mountain hike that day, which is how I ended up doing the entire thing in flip-flops.
This is a legitimate, proper hike, not a casual walk around the lake. There are steep climbs, narrow trails and plenty of elevation, but I honestly did not struggle at all. The way down was a little harder in flip-flops than the way up, but I still had no issues. My flip-flops held up, my feet were fine and we completed the entire hike with one backpack and some water.
What I did hear all day was “FLIP-FLOPS?,” “That’s insane!” and “Oh my God!” in what felt like 50 different languages. The amount of staring was ridiculous. People were fully equipped with hiking boots, giant backpacks and poles, while apparently being more concerned about my shoes than their own hike. Meanwhile, I was doing just fine. Mind your business.
The views were absolutely incredible and made the entire hike worth it. Seeing Oeschinensee from above was worth it. The lake is stunning, and the scenery along the trail is breathtaking. There are also cows roaming freely which was awesome.
One important warning: bring cash if you plan to stop at one of the little mountain shops near the end. You cannot use the restroom without buying something, and the shop at the bottom did not accept tap payments. We did not have cash, and the woman running it was MEAN mean. She was rude to me, rude to my child and literally slammed the door in our faces. Get with the times, lady, and calm all the way down.
Would I recommend hiking almost seven miles in flip-flops? No. Wear proper shoes if you know you are doing it. But we did not know, so I adapted and overcame. My flip-flops survived, I survived and I did not have a single problem. Sometimes people need to worry less about what everyone else is wearing and focus on themselves. We did just fine and it was one of the favorite parts of our trip!
