Best family holiday we've ever had — Megryan Tours & guide Mohan were exceptional

点评：As a family of four — two adults and two children aged 12 and 14 — we booked a 14‑day tour of Sri Lanka with Megryan Tours, and it turned out to be the best holiday we've ever had, and we say that as seasoned travellers who take 1‑3 international trips a year.
Our guide, Mohan, accompanied us as a personal chauffeur-guide for the entire two weeks, from arrival at Colombo Airport right through to our departure transfer. Nothing was ever too much trouble for him — he organised everything smoothly, from the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress climb, and always with a warm, professional attitude that made the whole trip stress-free.
Wildlife highlights
The animal encounters were a real highlight of the trip. We spotted troops of macaques with their babies clinging on near ancient ruins, and even a striking purple-faced langur perched high in the trees.
Later in the tour, the jeep safari and coastal excursions brought us even closer to nature, culminating in an unforgettable snorkeling trip where we swam alongside turtles and sharks near Pigeon Island, plus a whale and dolphin watching safari off Trincomalee that the whole family loved.
Tea plantations and cultural sites
The drive from Ella to Kandy included a fascinating stop at a traditional tea plantation and factory, where we learned the full tea-making process from leaf to cup, following in the footsteps of King Charles who has visited the same plantation. We also crossed the iconic Nine Arches Bridge on the way, one of the most photographed spots in the hill country.
The Cultural Triangle leg was equally memorable, particularly the Dambulla Cave Temple with its beautifully preserved murals and rows of Buddha statues carved into the rock.
Relaxing in Trincomalee
After the busier cultural and wildlife days, we spent several days simply relaxing at the High Park Hotel in Trincomalee, unwinding by the pool and on the beach just steps from the hotel. Sunset walks on the beach and fresh king coconuts by the water were the perfect way to end each day.
Overall
Everything about this tour was well organised, from the private vehicle transfers to the mix of adventure, culture, and downtime, and it was clearly tailored well for a family with two pre-teen/teen children. We would strongly recommend both Megryan Tours and Mohan specifically to anyone planning a Sri Lanka holiday — this was genuinely the best trip we've taken as a family.
