Torrance Barrens Dark-Sky Preserve的点评
点评：UPDATED: August 12, 2026...PERSEID PANDAMONIUM
I have been trying to get a good view of the PERSEID METEOR SHOWER for years but inclement weather, cloudy skies have deterred me as had light pollution anywhere near the GTHA.
SO I figured I would definitely head here as there was also no moon.
Great idea that HUNDREDS of people had and good for them.
But the road to the site was an absolute disaster by dark as parked cars lined both sides of the narrow road all the way back to the railroad tracks. To add insult to injury a TOUR BUS was stopped in the road and would not move. I did a 20-point turnaround and headed to the Gravenhurst Wharf.
A local told me that if you want to see the night sky show up in the daylight, park facing the way you came a long way from the entrance (the railway tracks), walk in and make a party of it. If you park any closer you will have a long wait getting out!!!
Bring something for the ground, bug spray and dress warm as it cools down very quickly even after a hot summer's day.

A longggg drive in on a winding narrow road….so be careful!!! SLOW DOW OVER THE RAILROAD CROSSINGS!!!!
Sadly during the day there is evidence of ignorant visitors just leaving trash around in the parking lot and on the trail into the clearing within 10 feet of a garbage bin!!
Whenever you go take bug repellent because the horseflies and deerflies are vicious!!!
At night take some comfortable RECLINING chairs (to save your neck!!) and BUG HATS!!!! Binoculars wouldn’t hurt either.

请带上垫子以防地面潮湿，带上驱虫剂，还要注意保暖——即便是在炎热的夏日，这里也会迅速变冷。

要沿着蜿蜒狭窄的道路开很长一段路……所以务必小心！！！经过铁路道口时一定要减速！！遗憾的是，白天总能看到一些不懂规矩的游客把垃圾随意丢在停车场上，甚至就在离垃圾桶仅10英尺远的步道上！！
无论何时去，都请带上驱虫剂，因为马蝇和鹿蝇实在极其凶猛！！
夜间出行则需带上舒适的可调节靠背椅（这样能保护颈椎哦！！）以及防虫帽!!!! 带上双筒望远镜也准没错。
