A unique opportunity to experience island life
Aran Currach Experience的点评
点评：I contacted Máirtín to ask if we would be able to squeeze in a Currach experience during a one day visit to Inis Oirr, to which he said there would be no problem.
From the start he and Tomás were welcoming, engaging, bringing a real personal feel with photos from their family history of using Currachs to their own stories of building and racing Currachs.
We were able to get hands on with Currach assembly, which gave a great insight into how the boat builders used their knowledge of the sea and the resources available to them to build something that allowed them to have a way of life on the island.
We then got to have a go rowing a currach on the lake, which was alot of fun. Máirtín was full of praise saying we were naturals, but I have a suspicion that he tells everyone that ;)
All in all, it was a fun morning, with a unique opportunity to sample island life of old. I'd definitely go again, maybe bring some more friends so we can see how we fare at racing each other on the Currachs!
